Unmanic Monday: Awaken Inner Harmony and Activate Your Body's Nudges

In this vast world of beauty, with the serene expanse of water and the ancient trees that have stood for hundreds of years, there's a profound reminder of the interconnectedness of all life.

There is more than we realize, and the affinity runs deep.

Recently, I found myself immersed in a thought-provoking discussion about hormones and health with a room full of medical professionals. The conversation delved into functional medicine approaches, testing, supplements, and biomarkers, all aimed at finding and treating hormonal imbalances.

Amidst the words flowing, one insightful individual brought up the notion of feminine hormone issues being linked to an excess of masculine energy in our culture. This resonated deeply with me, sparking a realization about the interconnectedness of mind, body, and spirit in our well-being.

As I reflected on this discussion, I couldn't shake the feeling that we've collectively lost touch a bit with the deeper essence of why we inhabit our vessel.

There was still a lingering question: how do we bridge the gap between the mind-body connection and the spiritual realm, especially in conventional medical settings? 

True integrative medicine encompasses the trinity of mind, body, and spirit. When we lose touch with the sacredness of life and our connection to something greater, we become adrift, seeking solace and healing.

When we disconnect from our purpose, hope, and sense of belonging, it can manifest as imbalances in our physical bodies. 

While my journey may have started with traditional healthcare approaches, it has evolved, and it is why I do what I do; retreats, circles, and deeper work. It’s all to create sacred spaces to reconnect with your inner self and find healing on a wHOLe(istic) level.

To Unmanic Your Monday, intend a reconnection. Our bodies has a wealth of wisdom to share, and by listening attentively, we can gain valuable insights and begin to close some gaps:

  1. Get in a comfortable seated position. Close your eyes if called, and focus on slow deep breaths in through your nose and out through your mouth.

  2. As you inhale, imagine sending your breath down to your toes, allowing them to relax with each breath. Notice any sensations or tension in this area, and simply observe without judgment.

  3. Continue this process, slowly moving your awareness up through each part of your body - your feet, ankles, calves, knees, thighs, moving all the way up to the crown of your head. With each inhale, imagine sending your breath to that specific area, allowing it to release any tension or discomfort.

  4. As you practice this body scan, pay attention to any messages, colors, shapes, memories, or sensations that arise. Journal for five minutes on the messages you may have received.

  5. Once you've completed the body scan, take a moment to thank your body for its support and resilience. Carry this sense of awareness and connection with you throughout your day, and check in with yourself regularly to honor your body's messages.
