UnManic Monday: Let’s make it a Move it Monday!

Good Morning!

We are sticking to the theme of scrubbing the slate clean this September. We have covered house, lemony goodness for internal cleaning, and this week - week talk movement!

Exercising to release sweat is an excellent idea when you want to eliminate toxins from your body.

First, drink a lot of water before, during, and after an exercise routine. Avoid drinking caffeinated beverages such as tea, coffee, or soft drinks because caffeine can dehydrate your body, leading to health problems while you are working out.

So where do we want the focus?

Here are some types of exercise that will help you to sweat:

  1. Tabata: Tabata is a type of specialized interval training that was designed in the late 1990s. A researcher wanted to create an interval-training program for athletes that would only require 30-minutes while also creating excellent results. This training program requires several minutes of intense activity followed by 10-seconds of rest for a total of eight rounds of exercise.

  2. Climbing Stairs: Walking up or down a flight of stairs is a great way to perspire. You can complete this activity in your own home or an apartment building. If you are traveling, then you can perform this exercise in a hotel that has several levels. You can also buy a stair-climber machine that permits you to continue walking on the steps as long as you like.

  3. Hot Yoga: Hot yoga is a popular form of exercise that involves performing postures in a room that is heated. For this type of exercise, the yoga studio is kept at a high humidity so that you perspire a lot. As soon as you enter a hot yoga room, you will begin to sweat, releasing dangerous toxins from your body.

  4. Spinning: One of the best ways to perspire is by spinning on a stationary bicycle several times a week. You can visit a local gym that has specialized spinning bicycles, or you can buy one to keep in your own home. Experts recommend a 45-minute spinning session to enjoy the most benefits from this type of exercise.

  5. Weightlifting: If you want to increase your muscle strength in addition to eliminating toxins, then join a weightlifting class. At a gym in your neighborhood, you can find barbells and free weights to help you sweat. In addition, there are often specialized machines that permit you to lift weights with your legs while you are sitting.

  6. Kickboxing: Kickboxing involves punching and kicking with an opponent, but you can also use a heavy punching bag that hangs from the ceiling. This type of physical activity will make you sweat as you fight against an opponent or practice with the punching bag.

  7. Running: You can enjoy running in almost any neighborhood, and this form of exercise is easy to perform alone or with others. A long run can help you to perspire to remove the toxins from your tendons or muscles to improve your overall well-being.

  8. Hiking: Be like me and hike it out! Hiking is so good for the body and for the soul - we get to connect to nature and look for nature symbolism all while moving. My earthy heart loves this one!

Before beginning any exercise routine, don’t forget to warm up first. One of the best ways to warm up is by using a sauna at an exercise gym or day spa. A sauna treatment can help you to release toxins from your body.

And bonus points for a post-exercise sauna sesh to soothe your sore muscles!

So what do you think? Can you commit to one? I’d love to hear from you!

A zesty start for a citrus Monday!

Hello there!

If you haven’t heard, we are scrubbing September’s slate, getting ready to lean into an October overhaul if you opt for it!

This week's invitation is full of luscious lemony delight!

Lemon has long since been known as one of the best food ingredients for detoxing your body. It really helps to cleanse your system, primarily with your liver, kidneys, and gallbladder, not to mention helping to restart your entire body.

Take a look at some of these delicious lemon-based detox recipes, try one or all, and let me know how it goes!

Detox Salad with Lemon: This salad uses as many different detox foods as you want, then naturally has plenty of lemon flavor. Think of fruits and veggies you believe taste good with lemon, such as carrots, kale or spinach, strawberries, beets, avocado, and bell peppers. You can also add in some nuts for more protein and extra superfood goodness, like walnuts or almonds. Add in some lemon juice, or even make your own dressing with lemon juice, your choice of oil, and garlic.

Lemon Detox Drink: If you don’t want to have something to eat, there are also lots of drink recipes out there. One is a simple lemon detox drink that includes just a few ingredients. You might recognize this type of recipe as something that you do with a “Master Cleanse”, but this is not necessary to benefit from the detox drink. You can also enjoy it as a way to detox your body by replacing other drinks in your regular diet. A good lemon detox drink includes lemon juice, cayenne pepper, cinnamon pepper, and apple cider vinegar. It should be mostly water and also have sweeteners like honey.

Tea with Lemon: You can have just about any time of healthy tea, add some lemon, and turn it into a detox tea. However, in terms of tea, use homemade tea or at least tea bags that contain loose tea leaves in them. A good tea uses the tea leaves, lemon juice, ginger, and turmeric. You are adding in lots of superfoods to add to the health of this detox tea. If you like adding lemon, remember to use raw lemon juice and not the processed, bottled variety.

Lemon Ice Cubes: This one is zesty and delish! All you need to do is make some detox lemon ice cubes, add them to your water, and you’re good to go. You want to use spring water or distilled water, and the juice of organic lemons when making the ice cubes.

What do you think? Are you up for trying one or all?!

Also - a little prequel, coming in October, I am inviting you to go deeper with me into a reset for your body, and regain your balance for seasons to come!

Scrubbing September’s slate - let’s clean it up!

Get ready to scrub September’s slate with me into an October overhaul if you opt for it!

To UnManic your Monday a bit, let's focus this week on how to detox your home for starters.

Detoxing is often related to your body, skin, and even hair (and we are going to get to that), but don’t forget about your home. The environment where you live and sleep should be one that is clean and fresh.

Following are tips for detoxing your home to be healthy and well, can you choose one for the week?!

  1. Have indoor houseplants: Plants don’t just add a decorative element, but actually cleanse the air and provide natural oxygen in your home. Many live plants not only cleanse the air of impurities but have soil bacteria that help to rid of formaldehyde and other volatile organic compounds that might be in the air. If you run your air conditioner or heater regularly, you might have some traces of dust and other impurities in the air, which plants can help to cleanse in your home. It is good to have at least one house plant in the living room, kitchen, and other common areas.

  2. Use natural candles: If you like to use candles in your home, whether for the ambiance, scent, or heat they provide, re-think the types of candles you use. When trying to detox your home, it is best that you avoid anything artificial or heavy chemicals. Unfortunately, many of your regular scented candles have additives that you probably don’t want to be in the air of your home where your family and pets live. Instead, try to use some natural candles, I like beeswax.

  3. Use more natural cleaning products: Another thing you want to start changing is what you choose to clean your home with. Naturally, having a clean home is part of detoxing it, but if you are using bleach and a lot of harsh chemicals, you are only adding more toxins into the air. Instead of doing this, start switching to natural and organic cleaning products. You can use apple cider vinegar, plain distilled vinegar, baking soda, and many other natural items to clean most areas of your home. Baking soda is great for pet stains and deodorizing, while lemon and vinegar are perfect for disinfecting. You should also ditch the dryer sheets, as they really are not necessary.

  4. Clean the HVAC unit: If you have a central air conditioner and heater in your home, that might be causing a lot of debris and dander in your home. You need to keep the air filter cleaned regularly and have the ducts cleaned by a professional about once a year.

How does this resonate? I’d love to hear!

Unmanic Your Monday: Nurture Growth, Process Anger, and Make a Solar Plexus Connection

Hello there!

Unmanic Monay is turning Dandelion Dispatch this week!

So I came across this little beauty and it brought a stream of messages for me.

This delicate yet tenacious dandelion reminds us of the distinctions between a flower and a weed; often subjective to judgment.

Take a look at the image …. which is it for you today?

We can do the same with our own qualities and characteristics. All really is happening for us.

Today the invitation is to explore the themes of growth, emotions, and intuitive guidance, drawing inspiration from this humble yet resilient plant.

If this dandelion could whisper, she may bring us the following reflective messages (and if you have more, I’d love to hear):

  • You have the ability to thrive in diverse environments.

  • Embrace change and grow without limits.

  • Beauty truly lies in the eye of the beholder.

  • You can process anger and with the wisdom of the liver - acknowledging and processing our emotions can lead to a harmonious and balanced life.

  • The yellow reminds you of the associated solar plexus chakra - the energy center responsible for confidence and self-expression -activate this and allow your inner radiance to shine forth.

  • Much like the dandelion's seeds carried by the wind, you are being reminded to follow the currents of your intuition -trust your inner compass to lead you to the right places.

Which of the above resonates with you? I’d love to know!

Go out, find a dandelion or any piece of nature, and listen to the whispering messages.

As the summer transitions into fall, may the wisdom of the dandelion inspire you to embrace change, process your emotions, and follow the path that your heart illuminates.

With warmth and dandelion dreams,

Alara

Unmanic Monday: Eye see you! Pun intended.

The invitation for this week’s Unmanic Monday, is to unmanic your mouth (and eyes, and ears, and … you get where I am going)!

Do you eat for your body, practice food as medicine and support, or just eat according to what is available?

There are seven main Chakras or energy centers in our body, each being associated with a different color.

Ideally, we want our energy to be flowing freely through all the chakras or energy centers.

I invite you to observe the food you are putting into your body this week, and eat according to what your body is really craving.

First, identify the need, second, call on the food for help! Locate your need here in this moment, and what chakra center it is linked to:

  • More grounding, security, safety, abundance, money, adrenal support = ROOT.

  • More creativity, intimacy, clear feeling, intuition, patience, support with hips = SACRAL.

  • More self-esteem, courage, will power, inner knowing support, standing in the I AM, digestive support= SOLAR PLEXUS.

  • More connection, empathy, servitidue, self healing, relationship focus, breathing issues = HEART.

  • More self expression, spirit information, practicing faith, receiving spirit information, neck and shoulder tension, thyroid support = THROAT.

  • More outer perception, awareness, dream support, self-awareness, all seeing, brain support = THIRD EYE.

  • More hope, letting go of the old, higher consciousness, moving through ego, nervous system and brain support = CROWN CHAKRA.

Next, choose a food to include today and this week (you can come back to this as much as you would like). Always eat with intention:

  • ROOT = Cherries, red plums, watermelon, strawberries, tomatoes, red onion, red cabbage, red peppers, beets.

  • SACRAL = Peaches, papaya, oranges, apricots, mangos, carrots, orange peppers, sweet potatoes, pumpkin.

  • SOLAR PLEXUS = Bananas, pineapples, lemons, yellow squash, yellow peppers, gold potatoes.

  • HEART = Arugula, avocado, honeydew melon, kiwi, green grapes, celery, cabbage, all green leafy veggies, cucumbers, asparagus, sprouts.

  • THROAT = While you can try something like blueberries, there are no foods in their natural state that vibrate to the frequency of a sky blue color. Foods with dark blue and purple pigments affect the third eye and crown vs. the throat. So what to do?? Drink water and hydrate! Clear fluids bring clear messaging!

  • THIRD EYE = Blueberries, blackberries, figs, plums, purple cabbage, purple potatoes, eggplant, prunes.

  • CROWN = The purple foods associated with the third eye above will help, and for this chakra - practice last weeks tip! Meditation!!

If you try this, I’d love to hear how it goes!

Eating according to chakra support is something I love to do, and include in all of my events!

Spend some time with me at Spirit Led - my upcoming retreat in Sedona. You FEEL the difference of how eating according to your chakras changes the game!

With love and gratitude,

Alara

Unmanic Monday: Discover the Tranquility of Walking Meditation

Happy Unmanic Monday and well wishes ahead for a week of self-discovery and mindfulness. This week, or maybe today, is an invitation to delve into the profound practice of Walking Meditation – a beautiful fusion of movement and mindfulness that can deeply enhance your spiritual journey.

Walking Meditation is a form of meditation that integrates mindfulness with the simple act of walking, also providing a refreshing and dynamic way to cultivate awareness, presence, and inner peace.

Unlike traditional seated meditation, walking meditation allows you to engage with the world around you while maintaining a calm and centered state of mind.

Great for a high vibing and settled nervous system, which is so necessary for all things manifesting!

My invitation to you today, is to practice with me:

  1. Choose Your Path: Find a quiet and serene outdoor space where you can walk without distractions. A garden, park, or peaceful trail are ideal choices. (The picture of me here is in Sedona at my most recent Spirit Led retreat - a fantastic place to practice)!

  2. Mindful Steps: Begin by taking a few deep breaths, allowing yourself to arrive fully in the present moment. Start walking at a slower pace than usual, and with each step, focus your attention on the sensation of your feet touching the ground.

  3. Awareness of Movement: As you walk, bring your awareness to the subtle movements involved in each step. Notice the lifting, moving, and placing of your feet. Pay attention to the shifting balance of your body.

  4. Breath and Rhythm: Coordinate your breath with your steps. Inhale for a few steps, then exhale for a few steps. Let your breath guide your pace and create a natural rhythm.

  5. Engage Your Senses: Expand your awareness to your surroundings. Notice the sights, sounds, and smells around you. Allow them to be a part of your meditation experience without becoming attached to them. (I receive many universal whispers at this step!)

  6. Return to the Present: If your mind starts to wander, gently bring your focus back to the sensation of walking and your breath. Be patient with yourself; this practice is about cultivating presence, not perfection.

  7. Gratitude and Reflection: As you conclude your walking meditation, take a few moments to express gratitude for the experience. Reflect on how this practice has influenced your state of mind and your connection with the world.

You will feel more connected to the earth, and more grounded and stable. Your physical well-being will also be encouraged with light movement and circulation the body.

Walking meditation is a bridge between stillness and activity, allowing you to practice mindfulness while moving. You will experience a heighted sensory perception and fosters a deeper appreciation for the world around you.

This is your invitation to embrace the present moment with every step you take, and will offer you a unique and enriching way to explore your inner landscape while remaining attuned to the beauty of the outer world.

May your journey of walking meditation bring you closer to the essence of your being and the splendor of existence.

With love and gratitude,

Alara

P.S. I would love to invite you to walk with me on this journey, and check out my next Spirit Led retreat in Sedona coming this November. Let's embark on this transformative journey together!
