Unmanic Monday: Eternal Connection with Our Loved Ones – Honoring Día de Muertos

I hope this message finds you in a state of peace and reflection. As we approach the celebration of Día de Muertos (Day of the Dead) on November 1st and 2nd, I want to share a deeply personal and meaningful experience that has been on my heart—our eternal connection to loved ones, even after they’ve moved beyond their bodies.

When I saw this photo from the ceremony prep from my Bali retreat, I was immediately drawn to the gorgeous ray of light shining down. What you can’t see with the human eye in this photo, was the light was shining directly onto a picture of my dear friend and mentor, Keith, of Keith’s Cacao, which sat next to me as I led ceremony.

I was so taken aback by this powerful reminder that we are never truly alone! We are never separate from those we love, even when they’ve transitioned to the other side. This connection is always present and available if we choose to tune into it.

In my experience, believing that we are somehow separate from anyone or anything is a form of dissociation.

My truth is, we are always connected—part of a larger collective and web of energy that transcends time and space. The more I open myself to this reality, the closer I feel to my loved ones who have crossed. Recently, I even reunited with my mother from a past life—a profound and healing experience that deepened my understanding of connection.

Though Día de Muertos is not widely celebrated where I live, I see it as an honorable nudge to honor and celebrate our loved ones on the other side. This is an incredible opportunity to step into the fullness of our ability to connect with all that is. We are eternal beings, and the love we share transcends any boundaries of time, space, or physical form. Knowing this brings me great comfort, and I hope it does for you too.

If you’ve been feeling the presence of someone who has passed or yearning for that connection, I invite you to take a moment today to pause and acknowledge it. As the Día de Muertos celebration approaches, let’s remember our loved ones are never truly gone—they are always with us in spirit. In the quiet moments, in the light that unexpectedly shines through, they are there—reminding us that love never dies.

Here are five easy ways to join me in creating a collective energy to honor those who have shaped our lives.

  1. Set an altar this weekend, adorned with photos, mementos, or anything that reminds you of your loved ones.

  2. Light a candle in memory of those who have passed, allowing its flame to symbolize their enduring spirit.

  3. Prepare your loved ones favorite meal or treat as an offering, sharing it with friends or family as a way to honor their memory.

  4. Share stories about your loved ones with others—reminiscing and laughing together keeps their spirit alive.

  5. Meditate or reflect in silence, inviting their energy into your space and connecting with them on a deeper level.

As we gather our intentions and energy, we can connect with their spirits and celebrate the love that continues to flow between us.

Sending love to you all as we embrace this beautiful truth together and honor the memories of those we cherish.

In remembrance,
Alara
