Unmanic Monday: The Power of Balanced Giving & Receiving

Once upon a time, our ancestors didn’t exchange money to survive. Giving and receiving were part of a natural cycle - people traded goods, shared resources, and relied on one another to thrive. This balanced flow of energy was essential for maintaining harmony in their communities and within themselves.

We’ve shifted a bit. After witnessing the recent gift exchanging of the holidays, perhaps we’ve shifted a lot.

We have transitioned into a system where we often measure worth in monetary value, but the fundamental truth remains: giving and receiving are vital to our well-being, not just financially, but emotionally, energetically, mentally, and from my perspective, even physically.

It’s important to remember that the act of giving and receiving is about more than just the exchange of goods or money. It’s an energetic flow that helps to maintain balance between our masculine (action, giving) and feminine (receptive, receiving) energies. When this balance is disrupted, we experience burnout, overwhelm, or our bodies may start speaking and we deal with physical health issues.

This week, I encourage you to explore new ways to give and receive, in all areas of life. Sometimes we think of giving as physical or monetary, but it can be so much more. Below are some ideas for how to incorporate this practice and bring greater balance into your life for 2025.

  1. Time & AttentionGive: Listen deeply to someone you care about without distractions - be fully present. Offer your time to help a friend or family member with something that’s important to them.
Receive: Allow yourself to accept support from others. When someone offers to help, whether it’s an offer to carry groceries out for you at the store or simply being a sounding board, say yes without guilt.

  2. Kindness & Encouragement
Give: Offer kind words or encouragement to a stranger, colleague, or loved one. A small compliment or genuine thank you can brighten someone’s day.
Receive: Open your heart to compliments and encouragement without deflecting them. Practice simply saying “thank you” when someone acknowledges you.

  3. Creativity & Ideas
Give: Share your creativity, whether it’s through art, writing, or simply coming up with a fun idea for a group activity. Share your knowledge with others freely, offering guidance or inspiration.
Receive: Be open to new ideas from others, even if they’re outside your comfort zone. Receiving feedback or learning from others’ creativity can enrich your perspective.

  4. Energy & Support
Give: Offer your energy through acts of service or simply being present with someone who needs support. This could be offering a hug, sharing a meal, or doing something to lift someone’s spirits.
Receive: Allow yourself to receive energy from others - whether it’s through compliments or acts of kindness. Sometimes, we resist being vulnerable, but receiving love and support is just as important as giving it.

  5. Physical Resources
Give: Donate items (new or gently used), volunteer time at a charity, or share resources that could benefit others. Sometimes, even the smallest physical offering can make a big difference for someone.
Receive: If you’re offered something, even if it’s small, accept it with gratitude, as long as it feels aligned for you. If it doesn’t feel right, kindly say no and give yourself permission to ask that they pay it forward instead. Allow others the opportunity to give, understanding they are also contributing to the natural flow of giving and receiving.

A Practice for the Week:

  1. Balance Your Energy: Take a moment each morning to reflect on how you can give and receive that day. Ask yourself: “Am I more in the energy of giving, or receiving?” If you tend to over-give, look for ways to open yourself to receiving. If you’ve been more in a receiving phase, find a way to give back, even in small ways.

  2. Keep a Journal: Each day, write down one way you gave and one way you received. This practice will help you become more aware of the balance (or imbalance) in your life. Think of it as a balance book. By reflecting on this flow, you’ll begin to notice where you can bring more harmony between these energies.

  3. Practice Conscious Receiving: Often, we give so freely but struggle to receive. For this week, make a conscious effort to allow others to give to you - whether it’s help, advice, or a compliment. Simply say “thank you” and appreciate the exchange without feeling the need to immediately reciprocate. Allow yourself to experience the fullness of receiving.

  4. Give Mindfully: When you give this week - whether it’s your time, energy, or resources - do so with a full heart and without expectation of receiving anything in return. Giving in this way opens up your energy and aligns you with the natural flow of abundance.

By nurturing the balance of giving and receiving, we can align our masculine and feminine energies, prevent burnout, and restore our sense of harmony. When we give and receive consciously, we support not only our own health and well-being but also that of our communities. Let’s practice giving and receiving with gratitude and mindfulness this week, allowing the energy to flow naturally through all areas of our lives.

I’d like to finish this week’s transmission with a poem I wrote. May it inspire your heart.

How can so many gifted people

Right now be so blind?

The key is in the heart;

But they’re stuck inside the mind.

Two lenses, at any moment,

We have the choice to use.

One is love, abundance, clear.

The other fearful, lack, diffuse.

Abundance comes in many forms,

Gifts flow, like breezes all around.

Wealth is not just money earned,

It’s love that’s shared and found.

We must stay open to receive,

Lest we block the flow.

In truth we have inherent worth —

Anchor this! Let old lies go!

My friends, we’re here to build the bridge,

For coming generations.

And yes, it takes great courage,

To shed cold masculine limitations.

Take heart! Lean into triggers now,

With curiosity and compassion.

For in those moments, chains will break;

And our lives will be refashioned!

We’re invited to embody love

In ways our Earth has yet to know.

Humanity reborn of faith and trust,

Divine feminine, earth, and home.

Many beings from the stars,

With mountain elders wise,

Are here now, sharing wisdom, love,

To open up our eyes.

Like the force of rushing water,

The teachings now will flow.

Their words are infinite, inevitable.

Attempts at constriction will not hold.

Will we become divine love incarnate?

A Christ-like force awakened?

YES! We are ALL these ancient ones.

Remember!

Release! Receive! Awaken!

My messages flow from love divine.

Come into this sacred heart?

My arms are open,

Embracing all,

And within lies a paradise, a fresh and loving start.

Wishing you balanced flow,

Alara
