Sometimes I sit and observe how extraordinarily quick our world goes by. The days blur together as we rush from one task to the next, emails piling up, meetings back-to-back, and endless notifications demanding our attention.
Before we know it, another week, another month, another year has passed. It’s surreal to me that we are talking about college with our son, when it would be more believable to my human mind if he were still in middle school.
This is why it is essential to retreat. From our daily routines, big demands, and from this timeline that only us humans do.
Recharging our spirits is more important than ever. And it’s not about escaping; it's about finding a sacred space to pause for reflection, rejuvenation, and reconnection with our inner selves.
Whether it's a weekend getaway or a structured retreat, taking the time to step back profoundly impacts our mental, emotional, spiritual, and I truly believe our physical well-being as well.
Studies have shown stress contributes to about 30% of heart disease cases, weakens immunity impacts up to 60% of illnesses, 70% of depression cases, and may speed up cancer growth in 20-30% of cases.
Shocking numbers affirming stress-related issues affect 60-80% of doctor visits and mortality rates.
We need space - yet, we don’t take it. And this is partly why retreating is important.
When we take time to get away in a supportive environment, the following activates:
Reflection on life without the distractions of daily responsibilities.
Deep introspection and self-discovery.
Feedback to help us gain new perspectives so we see things more clearly.
Encouragement and support from others.
Thought patterns are rewired for optimal living.
Self-doubt moves away.
Reconnection with purpose.
I could go on, but you get my drift.
This is why, when I felt the Spirit nudge to lead retreat in Bali, it was an absolute no-brainer YES for me. Resounding.
I may not know why, but I do know, attendees always leave transformed, and they get out of it what they put into it. So while this may be a wild mark on the map with a big journey, the transformation is going to be huge.
If this calls to you, check out the Mystic Enchantment Retreat in Bali. And in the meantime, Unmanic Your Monday with me with this simple exercise to retreat at home today to reflect and connect:
Find a quiet space in your home or a serene spot in nature, without distractions.
If this calls to you, choose a card from a deck of oracle cards, tarot cards, or any other intuitive guidance tool you resonate with. Set the intention to receive insights and guidance for your retreat.
Step outside if possible, or bring a piece of nature into your sacred space—a plant, a small stone, or a flower. Take a moment to connect with the natural world around you and feel its grounding energy.
Sit quietly, reflecting on what insight you gained, and write down any thoughts, feelings, or intuitive impressions that arise.
If you feel comfortable, share your reflections with a trusted friend, family member, mentor, or tag me on Instagram (@alarahealing). Allow yourself to receive and maybe gain new perspectives or clarity.
Wrap it up by expressing gratitude for the nature, insights, and guidance you've received, as well as for the opportunity to retreat and reconnect with yourself!
By incorporating this simple exercise into your Monday, you can create your own mini-retreat experience to reflect, recharge, and reconnect with your inner wisdom, and jumpstart your time away. Enjoy the journey!
